About the Artist: Bob Eggleton
Bob Eggleton was born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1960 and became interested in science fiction art at an early age thanks to Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Today and since 1983, he is a successful science fiction, fantasy and landscape artist.
Winner of nine Hugo Awards and eleven Chesley Awards, and a Rondo Award for Classic Horror his art can be seen on the covers of numerous magazines, professional publications and books in the world of science fiction, fantasy and horror across the world including several volumes of his own work. He has also worked as a conceptual illustrator for movies and thrill rides-he has worked on The Star Trek Expereince (1996), Sphere (1998), and the animated movies, the Academy Award nominated Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius (2001) and The Ant Bully (2006).
He displayed a talent at an early age for art and after some schooling that is what he set out to do. His penchant for Science Fiction and Fantasy — and dinosaurs-led him at a young age to pursue this as part of his livelihood. His interest in space and science fiction and his work in the field, wound up having Spacewatch/NASA naming Minor Planet 13562bobeggleton after him.
Bob had a penchant for movies and shows with giant monsters, or "kaiju", in them, notably the Godzilla series, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, Ultraman, and King Kong. He was a “running extra” in the 2002 film Japanese film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.
His non-Fantasy work includes landscapes and seascapes painted in a classical way. He is married to Australian-born artist Marianne Plumridge and they live in Rhode Island.
